I knew I'd get maximum value hiring Geoffrey Schumann to play upright bass in a music video on an original song he had only a short time to learn. He showed up able to play the song flawlessly from the start and dressed perfectly for the vibe of the video and coil. He was so good that the director chose to start the video with a close-up on Geoffrey, and returned to him throughout the video. Geoffrey Schumann was responsible for so much of the original seed influence, in the form of an old music project named Project Triskelion, that inspired me to originally open an early music software and start tinkering. Later in life, he has contributed insight, advice, and even instrumentals to my work. While we often will disagree stylistically, which is to be expected of musicians chasing different goals and sounds, his experience is nonetheless invaluable. For his work on the bonus track Battery, Geoffrey understood the mission and delivered a bassline (in varying flavors for me to choose from) that absolutely captured the vibe and mood of the sound I was trying to achieve.
