My Second Album Beyond Reason

Introduction

Hello, dear readers! Thank you for your curiosity about my sophomore music album titled “Beyond Reason.” This collection showcases some of my earliest compositions, dating back to 1997, including the popular single “Watermelon.” In this blog post, I aim to share the ongoing narrative of my musical journey as captured in these album notes.

MY EARLY EXPERIENCE WITH ELECTRONIC MUSIC

As a child, the captivating world of electronic music fascinated me. Iconic groups like Mannheim Steamroller, renowned for their pioneering work with Fairlight systems, initially sparked my interest. I was awe-inspired by how they blended science and technology to create melodious music with a unique sound. During my adolescence, artists like Isao Tomita left a lasting impression. His album, “The Snowflakes Are Dancing,” introduced me to the beautiful fusion of classical music and electronics—an unmistakable sound attributed to Tomita himself, a true trailblazer in the electronic music arena.

CRAFTING “BEYOND REASON”

The composition of my album “Beyond Reason” primarily utilized the digital audio workstation, Reason. However, it’s important to note that “Watermelon” was initially crafted outside of Reason and later remastered using the software. While Reason Studios is now the parent company, it was previously owned by Propellerhead Software. My music incorporates a blend of virtual instruments within Reason, complemented by digital samples, loops, and other virtual instruments acquired from the Reason store and other reputable platforms offering compatible products.

MY EVOLUTION AS A MUSICIAN

My musical journey commenced with classical training as a bassist and gradually expanded into jazz, jazz fusion, and a wide range of genres. Throughout my early years in music, I embraced diverse styles, drawing inspiration from core artists who still grace my playlist. However, my true passion was not solely to follow but to create. The emergence of virtual instruments and technology ignited my interest, leading me to embrace the digital realm for my orchestral compositions. I chose the Reason platform due to its exceptional virtual hardware, which greatly influenced my early creations.

INFLUENCES AND INSPIRATIONS

My affinity for electronic music during my formative years was deeply influenced by various artists, bands, and projects. Larry Fast, Patrick O’Hearn, Andreas Vollenweider, Paul Winters, Shakti, Paul Horn, Kitaro, Tomita, Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre, George Winston, Mark Isham, Michael Hedges, Shadowfax, Mannheim Steamroller, Yanni, Enya, Clannad, Enigma, Windham Hill Records, William Ackerman, David Arkenstone, Dave Koz, Phillip Glass, Daniel Kobialka, Brian Eno, Weather Report, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Pat Metheny, Yello, and many others have all played a significant role in shaping the music I create today.

MUSIC IN THE 21ST CENTURY

In the modern world, anyone can create music from the comfort of their home studio using personal computers and a wide array of available software. I aspire to continue creating music and evolving alongside technology, enriching the digital landscape with my compositions.
